Plein Air Oil Workshop - March 6-8, 2012 with Jeanette Le Grue
Jeanette Le Grue is a California-based oil painter who shows her work in galleries and museums throughout the United States. She has been the subject of feature articles in Southwest Art Magazine, American Artist Magazine, and Plein Air Scene. She has received numerous awards, including First Place in the American Impressionist Society's National Show, the Irvine Museum Award at the Hawaii Plein Air Event, the Award of Excellence at the Oil Painters of America National Juried Exhibition, and the Helen De Cozen Award at the American Artists Grand National Exhibition in New York. To see Jeanette's work, go to www.legrue.com.
Jeanette is an excellent teacher who uses daily demonstrations to emphasize seeing the abstract design in the landscape. Painting a la prima, she focuses on seeing the big shapes, and relationships of grays to color and color harmony. She has coined the F.I.S.H. School of Color, which is her trademarked approach. Jeanette takes beginners to professional level, and gives plenty of individual attention.
Here is Jeanette's description of her workshop:
The goal of this workshop is for you to learn and practice principals and techniques that will enable you to become a better plein air painter. First you will learn how to SEE the abstract design, essential for every successful painting. You will plan your painting then paint your plan. I will show you how to simplify and organize your painting so that you capture the essence of your subject. You will start by creating a small value painting so that you learn to see how painting is not about objects, but about the design. You will feel how relationships between light and shadow express emotion. I'm a "hands on" teacher. Through lectures, demos, and individual daily critique at the easel, each student will grow in their ability and discover their own strengths. A group critique will follow at the end of this class.
For more information about the workshop and registration, contact Tina Mayland at Tina@TinaMaylandArt.com. The price for this workshop is $430 by Dec 1 and $475 after for CAG members and $450 by Dec 1 and $500 after for non-CAG members.
