Susan Gaillard

Artist Bio:

Susan was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She was educated at Ashley Hall School, Hollins College, Davidson College, and the University of South Carolina. Susan spent a year studying in Paris during college, earned her Master’s degree in French at USC, and taught French in local schools for many years. Susan enrolled in her first art classes while at Davidson and more recently has studied painting under several local artists, including Charles DeAntonio, William McCullough, Bill Jameson, Susan Mayfield, and Laurie Meyer.  She is an exhibiting member of the Charleston Artist Guild and her works are currently displayed at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery at 160 East Bay Street in Charleston, South Carolina.

Susan especially enjoys painting scenes of the South Carolina Low Country and of France and works almost exclusively in oils. She is influenced by the works of the French Impressionists and finds inspiration for painting in the beautiful effects of light in nature. Susan and her husband Foster reside in downtown Charleston, but spend as much time as possible on beautiful Edisto Island.  They have three grown children.
