High School Senior Exhibition 2017

The Charleston Artist Guild 2017 High School Seniors Art Exhibit

High school seniors who are enrolled in art programs in all low country schools are invited to participate.
We had 65 entries this year!

The artworks were on display March 6 through March 11, 2017, with a reception and awards ceremony on March 11th.

The work were judged and awards presented along with several scholarships for a total amount of $4250.

Award winners are as follows:

Mary Whyte Excellence in Watercolor Award Alternate Winner:  Artist Allison Gonyer of Cane Bay High School, watercolor “Bottom of the Bottle”

Mary Whyte Excellence in Watercolor Award Winner:  Artist Katie Easterlin of Wando High School, untitled watercolor

Martin Ahrens Scholarship Alternate Winner:  Artist John Rudolph of James Island Charter High School, photograph on canvas, “Wildfire”

Martin Ahrens Scholarship Winner:  Artist Morgen Toney, of Wando High School, photograph “Tri”

Ellis Foundation Scholarship Alternate Winner:  Artist My’Asia McCollum of Cane Bay High School, graphite drawing

Ellis Foundation Scholarship Winner:  Artist Olyvia Spisak of Wando High School, paper sculpture

FOUNDERS Scholarship Alternate Winner:  Artist Madi Simons of Wando High School, sculpture, “Mazing Mind”

FOUNDERS Scholarship Winner:  Artist Fredrick Horton of Charleston County School of the Arts, painting “Gossypium”

CAG Scholarship Alternate Winner:  Artist Jacob Edmondson of Charleston County School of the Arts, “The Thirteenth Amendment”

CAG Scholarship Winner:  Artist Jack Marino of Charleston County School of the Arts, painting “GrapefruitChess”

Some of the scholarship money comes from our silent auction fund raiser at the Holiday party, The Ellis Foundation Grant some is from the very generous donations from local artists, Joyce Hall and Mary Whyte.

Parents, teachers, students, and local artists are always invited to the reception. Each scholarship winner received a free one year membership to the Guild, with all the benefits listed on the membership form.
